Polypodium musifoliumPosted by MadScientist (Düsseldorf, Germany) on 23 January 2008 in Plant & Nature. This fern is usually called Crocodile Fern due to its reptile-looking foliage. I saved this one from a dark and very cold store where it was stuck in an awful vase. Now it's a vigorous grower and got quite large. Download my coffee-table book of selected postings here. Enjoy!

Michael Skorulski from Cigel, SlovakiaThe detail is beautiful, MS. The texture looks like the parched ground of the desert, only green. 23 Jan 2008 7:07am @Michael Skorulski: If you look at the leaves from above they really appear reptile skin-like. This is a very attractive fern. Laurent from Lyon, Francesuperb! this green (that seems transparent on the left leaf), the details on the leafs, the composition and DOF. 23 Jan 2008 7:16am @Laurent: Thank you very much! There was a lamp just behind the plant, thus the transparency effect :-) 10cré from Versailles, FranceC'est superbe ! quelle douceur dans les couleurs :-) 23 Jan 2008 9:02am @10cré: Mercy beaucoup, très aimable! :-) Kelly from Ontario, United StatesVery nice. Indeed, it's very beautiful. What you can't see here is its attractive waxy leaf surface. Ina from Krugersdorp, South AfricaAwesome capture, great color and shadows! 23 Jan 2008 2:40pm @Ina: If you'll find a half-shady place in your garden / on your balcony you could grow your own, but better have enough room for it! It can get quite large :-D Irina Sh from Moscow, Russian FederationOh, so beautiful! perfect pattern and colors and lighting! 23 Jan 2008 3:18pm @Irina Sh: Thank you very much! Just another fern from my plant collection... :-) Rabbit from Richmond, United StatesLOVE the closeup. Makes me feel as if i'm wrapped in the leaves. 24 Jan 2008 6:25pm @Rabbit: This is more approximate to the truth than you might think, since this one got really, really big! :-D Michael from Wuppertal, GermanyEInfach wunderbar!
