Best WishesPosted by MadScientist (Düsseldorf, Germany) on 21 February 2008 in Lifestyle & Culture. We were attending a wedding in Tegernsee, Bavaria, and one of the surprises for the couple was this plenty of balloons that has been released into Bavarian air. Many of them had greetings cards attached. Some of the balloons could be seen several minutes later, still. Download my coffee-table book of selected postings here. Enjoy!

Tricia from Melbourne, Australiai like that idea of releasing balloons..although it might be quite a waste. but it's lovely nonetheless. 21 Feb 2008 6:29am @Tricia: Ahh, come on, white pigeons would be even more kitschy :-) Caroline from Brighton, United KingdomA lovely image. The sky lights up the whole scene beautifully. 21 Feb 2008 9:12am @Caroline: Thank you, Caroline! Fortunately, the rain stopped a few hours before! @Eleftheria, 9 years old,: Thank you, Eleftheria! Some of the greetings cards (they have been addressed to the couple) were found several hundred kilometers away! @eddy: Thanks, eddy! It was a really beautiful sight to see all these balloons drifting slowly northwards. Must have been hundred or more. Steven from Chicagoland, United StatesThe skyline provides a great backdrop to all of the balloons. And the sunlight from behind the tree reminds me of a "burning bush." Nice composition! 21 Feb 2008 4:50pm @Steven: I also loved these clouds, because they meant better weather (two days of constant rain came to and end). Thank you :-) @Calusarus: Thanks, Calusarus, much appreciated :-) Ina from Krugersdorp, South AfricaVery nice capture, something you don't see everyday! 21 Feb 2008 6:21pm @Ina: Thank you! That's right, it was a quite big wedding with a lot of guests! MaryB from Staffordshire, United KingdomWhat a fantastic Idea, and such a beautiful shot, the sky creates a perfect backdrop. 21 Feb 2008 11:22pm @MaryB: Thanks, glad you like it :-) It was a really beautiful wedding and there were a lot of good vibrations. baobab from Cambridge, United StatesI like this! Quirky, odd, fun, with lovely colours, composition and light. 22 Feb 2008 12:31am @baobab: Thanks, baobab! It really was a very beautiful effect :-) Elisa from Massachusetts, United Statesfantastic shot!! so creative!! I love it! 22 Feb 2008 2:00am @Elisa: Thanks, Elisa! This was just seconds after releasing all balloons. JoeB from Brampton, CanadaThe colour of the balloons really stands out againts the lightness of the sky. 22 Feb 2008 2:09am @JoeB: Since the weather got much better that evening, you could observe these ballons for more than ten minutes - until they got too small :-) akarui from Kagoshima, JapanLovely shot with all those balloons against a beautiful sky. 22 Feb 2008 2:21am @akarui: Thanks, akarui! The bridal pair and all guests also loved that sight :-) Doug from Long Beach, United StatesI like how the balloons AND the clouds on the horizon both turned out. (Just need to get that person's head out of the shot!) 22 Feb 2008 5:30am @Doug: Actually, it wasn't that easy to shoot just the balloons: there were so many guests, and they all wanted to make some photos of this action :-) @Michael: Danke - war auch ein schöner Tag! @Ana Lúcia: Thank you, much appreciated! @Porcsin: Thank you, Porcsin! The sky was a perfect backdrop here :-) @Twelvebit: Heavens! You just reactivated my 80's Nena trauma! :-D @Laurent: Yes, it was a very beautiful scene, thank you, Laurent! :-) @Zing: Thank you, Zing! :) Japanalia from Yokohama, JapanA wonderful gesture for the newly weds and it must have been a very happy sight! Your image, though, looks more like a farewell in that light....beautiful, but with a melancholic touch. 26 Feb 2008 5:17am @Japanalia: I think this is caused by the evening mood. It had been raining for two days and that evening finally the sun came out again! Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesHow about Rock Me Amadeus, Vienna Calling, Munich Girls, or Auf Der Flucht --that make you feel better? Or, lately, I've been listening to a little Rammstein. 26 Feb 2008 5:15pm @Twelvebit: Whoa, you almost knocked me out, but what about some "Da da da" from Trio, Hubert Kah, or "I want fun" Markus? Take this! :-D @gandz: Thank you so much! It was a wonderful wedding too! @Margie: Thanks so much, Margie! :-) Cuentos from SpainThat is romantic and poetic image. I liked very much. Saludos, Thanks. 29 Nov 2008 4:11am @Cuentos: Thank you very much, Mariana! |
