We were attending a wedding in Tegernsee, Bavaria, and one of the surprises for the couple was this plenty of balloons that has been released into Bavarian air. Many of them had greetings cards attached. Some of the balloons could be seen several minutes later, still.

i like that idea of releasing balloons..although it might be quite a waste. but it's lovely nonetheless.

@eddy: Thanks, eddy! It was a really beautiful sight to see all these balloons drifting slowly northwards. Must have been hundred or more.

The skyline provides a great backdrop to all of the balloons. And the sunlight from behind the tree reminds me of a "burning bush." Nice composition!

@JoeB: Since the weather got much better that evening, you could observe these ballons for more than ten minutes - until they got too small :-)

I like how the balloons AND the clouds on the horizon both turned out. (Just need to get that person's head out of the shot!)

@Doug: Actually, it wasn't that easy to shoot just the balloons: there were so many guests, and they all wanted to make some photos of this action :-)

A wonderful gesture for the newly weds and it must have been a very happy sight! Your image, though, looks more like a farewell in that light....beautiful, but with a melancholic touch.
