A small church located at Rome's Corso. San Marcello has a long and chequered history. Making a photo here was difficult, there wasn't much light I could use. However, it is a quite intimate location that invites you to have a rest from the hustle outside.
wow iso1600...great shot...love the details...are you using any type of noise reduction software?

@Will: Thanks! Currently, I'm playing with Aperture (I used it here to emphasize the details that were almost lost in the darker areas), but I don't use any noise reduction. I didn't have a tripod at hand in that church, so I had to use this high ISO value.
I think the light levels play well into your description about being an intimate location. And much of the detail is still captured nicely. Well done!

@Steven: Thank you, Steven! Tomorrow's image will show another example for this kind of intimacy.
The lighting makes it feel calm and peaceful. Nice one. :)

@Brites: I had to brighten up that photo, too many details were lost in the shadows. This church had really small windows!

@Irwansyah Sk3tchw!nd: Yes, this church was a real toughie in comparison with the greater ones (very bad light here). However, the few people here enliven the scene, so I guess they appreciate the intimacy of this rather small church.
You've captured the essence of this church beautifully MS

@MaryB: This is sometimes easier in smaller churches because they permit you to capture the whole room without leaving out the details. These glamorous ones, like Il Gesù, almost scream for attention and you don't know where to start and when to stop making images; the smaller ones show everything at once and your eyes can rest.
