This is a new one we haven't visited yet: Sant'Antonio dei Portoghesi, dedicated to St Anthony of Padua, from 1638 by Martino Longhi the Younger and Carlo Rainaldi. This is an important Portuguese church that was frequently visited by the popes of the 17th century. This church is ideally indicative of a pristine concept of Baroque style. The high altar was executed by Cristoforo Schor, the altarpiece by Marcello Venusti.
(Oops, name-dropping day! :-)
Marvelous the amount of work that has gone into the construction. The cost would be prohibitive today! an excellent composition.

@Michael Skorulski: This was the Portuguese National Church - whatever that means in the detail, but I'm sure that it was important enough to stump up money :) Prestigious developments of today aren't cheap, either.
Baroque is one of my favourite styles of architecture and music, this is a magnificent capture MS.

@Japanalia: Just lean back and enjoy :-D
In these countries they know to evoke a wow-experience in their churches! Wunderbar, sie sind gar keiner verrückter Wissenschaftler :)

@Illuci: Es gibt Leute, die denken da anders! There are people who think differently about that! :-D
Pulling back changes the weight of the mixed styles and gives a completely different appearance.

@Twelvebit: This one is a very homogenous architectonic ensemble. Forms, colours, decors are in perfect harmony.
I like this picture a lot. Very good composition with the lines and the curves. You seem to like churches. I plan to put some when I will continue the French serie.

@akarui: That would be great. And yes, I like to capture the atmosphere of sacral buildings. :-)
Wonderful tones and details.
