Polystichum polyblepharum

Hardiness of plants is usually treated in a too simple manner. Nurseries, often textbooks, tell you that a plant is hardy without telling you if they mean hardiness of the foliage, of the plant body, or the roots / rhizomes. Whoever lives in a temperate climate zone (that is a climate zone with four distinct seasons) and who is willing to nurse tender plants, must deal with these multiple terms of hardiness. I'm still learning how to interpret the temperature data on the plant label when I buy one, but I'm also aware that the plant can't read what's on that label.
