Bavarian sky

I have to admit: even if the Lower Rhine region is the uncrowned king of cloudy skies, the Bavarian sky at least has an outside chance. The only thing that's missing is a decent river, so let's take these hills in the background instead. :-)

@juant3: Fortunately they promised better weather, as it was raining for two days then. The next day was fabulous, just sunny weather and no clouds left.

I'm often tempted to shoot great skies like this, and usually, due to what's in view on the ground, I can't isolate the sky as I'd like.

@Twelvebit: Sky alone usually isn't enough; I try to capture from the surrounding landscape as much as possible. If you have a tree or a building at the border of the frame (a silhouette is enough), maybe a mountain, and some clouds, then you'll have an interesting sky picture. The rest is post processing - I enhanced the clouds a bit. Voilà!

On one of the cable TV channels they were giving "Ludwig" tonight...one of the movies that is a rare piece of acting and staging. And now, looking at your shot, I was thinking how many times did he look at the Bavarian sky? Did he see the same patterns you've captured here? I'm positive that he'd have loved this atmosphere!

@Japanalia: You mean Visconti's Ludwig, right? Without going too far, I'd say that L. looked way too often into the sky :-D
