A Matteuccia struthiopteris frond looking at you.
It does really look like it is looking at me, you've humanised this plant somehow...great shot.

@Margie: Thanks, Margie! This fern is deciduous and it was quite exciting to see its fresh fronds emerging from the soil.
Wow! this is cool, it reminds me of a creature from a Sci fi movie :) The lighting, dof and lush green colour are wonderful MS. A fantastic image.

@MaryB: Thanks! This is a friendly alien whose fronds are still very delicate :-)
Beautiful composition with the rich greens and use of light. It seems to be quite a "heavy" fern compared to the ones I am so familiar with.

@Steven: It has a vase-like structure and can get really big! It's very beautiful, a plant with character :-)
Interesting shot.

@Twelvebit: I think there's some kind of cuteness to some plants. :-)

@Japanalia: Now it's completely unfolded and got quite big! One of the bigger ferns on my balcony.
Great detail-macro and DOF... Looks almost like a Christmas tree! :)

@juant3: Not if have an overall sight, when young, Wollies look very 'irregular'. It's now growing like mad and slowly gets a structure that resembles that of a 'real' conifer.
