We've been visiting Xanten Cathedral some weeks ago and already know that this church is dedicated to Saint Victor of Xanten. This is his statue, done in 1468 by master Blankenbyl of Wesel.
A great angle to this shot MS, I like the way St. Victor is looking at you. The statue is beautifully worked and preserved for one so old.

@MaryB: I don't know if the colours of this statue are original or if later generations painted it over and over. Actually, they were quite bleached out, so I thought a B/W picture would be better. And yes: it's a nice statue! The outer walls of St. Victor's Cathedral are filled with nice surprises like this one :)
nice statue

@Michael: Die Originalfarben sind irgendwo zwischen schutzig gelb und rosa, also nicht so der Bringer. Da habe ich mal mit meinem neuen Spielzeug experimentiert und fand die S/W-Version sehr viel ansprechender.
wonderful shot and angle

@Jen: Considering his age, he still looks well, doesn't he? :-)
