This row of white houses has been completely refurbished in the early 1990s. The renovation was complete: only their facades are original, everything what has been behind was broken down and completely rebuilt. I first found the uniform white facade a bit boring, but with a distance of some years I find the renovation quite successful.
I'm quite busy at the moment but I will answer all your comments as soon as possible! Thank you all!
Beautiful. I love the detail and clean whiteness!

@Michael Skorulski: Some years ago it was quite blinding on sunny days! Through the years it got a little bit toned down.
What a beautiful, yet complex, capture showing the "order" of the architecture from top to bottom! The lighting and shadows really does a great job bringing out the architectural detail.

@Steven: I like these old buildings, or more correct: old facades, much more than uniform post-war architecture. From an aesthetic point of view one could argue that these old buildings are just quoting from older times, jumbling up various architectonic style elements (I have a book from 1910 that condems this kind of architecture). But all these elements don't have another purpose than being beautiful, and that's why I like them. Later architecture usually tries to follow the form-follows-function concept, doing without any decor; but now it's time to rediscover again the presence of beautiful forms that have no destined purpose! Dull and boring houses made no better people, so let's put the beauty back into the streets and show it to everybody :)
lovely shot... very beautiful !!!

@Kaddy: Many streets in Bonn are looking like this. This city has preserved a lot of its old buildings. I like this very much.
A very strong image, the light is perfect and there's lot's of detail

@Ina: I discovered a new toy and played with some parameters :) Glad you like it!
Nice architecture. The white takes away the old feeling but it will come back with the years...

@akarui: I hope so! The blinding white 15 years ago looked extremely artificial. If I were the homeowner, I had chosen different colours for every house.
I like the white for showing the lines and shapes of the building.

@JoeB: A very outstanding row of houses because it's always the same tone of white. Usually there are differences in the colours between different houses.
