Two days ago, this fern (Onoclea sensibilis) has been completely toasted: obviously air was too dry and too hot! Now I know the origin of its familiar name: Sensitive fern.
I'll try again.
Shame.. it had a very nice pattern to the leaf. Good shot.

@Observing: I've seen some green spots in the soil, maybe it will recover. :-)
I love the pattern that the negative space makes. Lovely image.

@Tracey: Thanks! It was a lucky fern - four days ago! ;-(
Lovely composition to bring out the natural shapes and forms.

@Ronnie 2¢: Hope it will get this natural shapes back - at this moment it looks rather crumpled!
By the colour it still looks like it has life to it, it might come back. The water drops are fat and full of life.

@JoeB: That's the 'before' shot when it was a happy fern! Now it resembles straw, you wouldn't recognize it. Time will tell... :)
I like it very much, thank you :-)

@MaryB: Irksome, yes! But it's not dead, there are still some green spots. I'll publish an update posting in a few weeks :)
Fantastische Aufnahme mit Poster-Qualität! Schade um die Pflanze!

@Michael: Danke! Ja, ärgerlich! Nicht der erste Farn, den ich geschreddert habe - seltsamerweise die einzige Pflanze, die überhaupt Hitzeschäden hatte. Naja, vielleicht kommt er ja wieder.
marvelous -- excellent focus and feature of the natural textures -- the water drops are perfectly magical.

@dj.tigersprout: Thank you! Ferns are my favourite plants and I'm always trying to make them look good in my photos :-)
The leaves almost look cut or ripped instead of just being in contrast with a dark background.

@Twelvebit: I love this archaic appearance. Its fertile frond looks very different though.

@Japanalia: It's not dead yet! The rhizome's still green, so its chances are good! I'll see in a few weeks.

@Damon Schreiber: I'll do - I think there's still life left in the soil. Will take some weeks.
At least we have the photo to remember it.
