Ted from South Wales, United KingdomI am dead jealous! Of all the shots I have of Rome, without a tripod, I failed to get a decent night time shot of the Colosseum. 27 Jun 2008 7:19am @Ted: I had to pay a price for this. For our ten-day-trip to Rome I had my tripod at hand. I used it only once (the session I made this shot) and almost risked a rupture when carrying our not so light baggage. It was hard. I was so wimpish. @Eleftheria!: Thank you, Eleftheria! I'm sure the Acropolis at night is a nice sight as well! MaryB from Staffordshire, United KingdomA stunning night shot MS, love the way you've captured the moon too. 27 Jun 2008 11:57am @MaryB: Thanks, Mary! Wished I already had my zoom lens then, maybe I could have made the moon a bit bigger! :) JoeB from Brampton, CanadaThe light from the inside is very warm, being affectionate to the building. The moon in its circular glow is a bit strange. 27 Jun 2008 12:39pm @JoeB: But don't you feel its energy?! ;-) @Ekaputra Tupamahu: Thanks very much! dj.tigersprout from San Bruno, United Stateswow -- stupendous shot here mate! the glows in the arches make this almost surreal against the pitchblack night. the effect is simply massive! bravo! 27 Jun 2008 5:22pm @dj.tigersprout: Thanks very much! Massive indeed! Considering that a big part of the Colosseum has been demolished during the centuries makes it even more impressive. The sight at night is just breathtaking. Kevin from Frederick, Colorado, United Statesexcellent capture - the composition, the colors, the lighting - all great. I'm jealous! 27 Jun 2008 7:13pm @Kevin: Thanks! (I took many test shots at home to be prepared for this :-) If you look at my 'portfolio' page you'll see that I often have to handle bad light conditions. I'm still learning.) Laurent from Lyon, Franceone again I love the composition. The light is also superb. Except the fact that the black is a little bit noisy otherwise it would have been just perfect. here it is only "almost" perfect ;o). 27 Jun 2008 8:26pm @Laurent: You're right: I've seen my image on a different display and noticed that dang noise (don't see it on my display at home). So what! :-D Evelyne Dubos from Le Mans, FranceGreat angle of view for this night shot of Colosseum. Well done. 27 Jun 2008 9:56pm @Evelyne Dubos: Thanks, Evelyne! I'm especially glad because these were my first 'real' night shots after some test captures at home. Observing from Local, United KingdomSimply outstanding photograph. Your composition is excellent, and the various shades of light have been captured perfectly. 27 Jun 2008 11:08pm @Observing: It's very cool that you don't have to wait for this light: this lightshow happens every night! Fliss from Melbourne Beach, United StatesA great shot... was here in 2005... an amazing place... 28 Jun 2008 1:36am @Fliss: Thanks, Fliss! Glad to hear that! akarui from Kagoshima, JapanBeautiful night shot of the Colosseum. The moon is a plus in the picture. 28 Jun 2008 1:52am @akarui: Yes, that was a nice surprise when I was there. Could have been a bit larger, though :) DarkElf from Perth, Australiasuperb angle! real good! the glowing light inside ads a certain eerie feeling and the moon caps it off beautifully... 28 Jun 2008 8:22am @DarkElf: A vespertine service by the city of Rome! Japanalia from Yokohama, JapanOh,oh,oh! This is something!!! I love it! You found a good angle and did a beautiful job! My compliments! 28 Jun 2008 3:41pm @Japanalia: My pleasure :) Ina from Krugersdorp, South AfricaMagnificent angle! The light is superb, excellent work! 28 Jun 2008 5:17pm @Ina: If it would have been a failure, I would have been able to retry, as the Colosseum is illuminated daily :) @Michael: Danke :) @Twelvebit: It just had to be done :) Daily Phototherapy from Sacramento, United StatesI love the composition on this shot. And the lighting is magical. 1 Jul 2008 6:51pm @Daily Phototherapy: Thanks! :-) |
