Lovely example, isn't there a similar plant - bottle brush...? I know what I like in the garden but hopeless with the names. Very good image.!

@Observing: I've shown a similar plant here. What they have in common is the loss of petals, makes them look very different.

Thanks for pointing out the image yesterday, I worked on a smaller version and it got by me. Annoyed and disgusted by it I removed it.
From time to time I get the feeling that what you need is an enclosed park hothouse for yourself.

Thank you for the info about the flower... I always thought it was a gorgeous flower though never knew the name... it is gorgeous and as for the photo of the Bottlebrush... I know that well... it is the white ones I detest the smell of... these plants remind me of home and we have some around Florida

@akarui: Yes, a really nice plant. This peculiar one is a little tree and it was in full flower when I was there. Breathtaking.

@Michael: Toll, nicht wahr? In einigen Gärten habe ich ihn auch schon gefunden, der Kölner BoGa hat ein recht stattliches Exemplar.

@Doug: Thanks, Doug! (You lucky one! In a botanical way every winter here gets a nail-biter. it's always risky to grow tropical plants here, because they need a special treatment when temperatures are dropping.)
