Observing from West Cheshire, United KingdomThis plant has a nice shade - almost bluish/grey , I like that. And the rain water makes it look very special. 30 Jul 2008 8:27am @Observing: One of our local supermarkets had them in stock, I couldn't resist. Especially because they're also belonging to an ancient plant group. @Lorraine: The surface of its leaves is quite waxy, hence the 'Lotus effect'. Looks pretty nice, huh? :-) Kylie Greenan from Richmond, AustraliaVery refreshing, thanks for sharing your image! 30 Jul 2008 12:12pm @Kylie Greenan: As I see that you're from Australia I have to say "thank you" to you, because these plants are growing not far away from you! :-) @António Pires: Thanks, António! @valenttin: Thanks, valenttin! Glad you like it! dj.tigersprout from San Bruno, CA, United Stateswow -- very fresh! i love your macro and wildlife shots! beautifully captured! 30 Jul 2008 7:03pm @dj.tigersprout: Well, this wildlife grows at my balcony! Thanks a lot! Tracey from White Hall, United StatesGee...look at that...rain. How very unusual! ;0) Still not dry, huh? Gorgeous picture! I love the compound leaves and the gorgeous green. 30 Jul 2008 9:20pm @Tracey: Compound leaves, that's it! Give me a plant with compound leaves and I'm in love. This one is also of a quite ancient genus, that I like so much: cause I can't have a dino I must have the plants they scrubbed their rears on! :-) Evelyne Dubos from Le Mans, FranceI like the unusual color of green and the graphic way you choose. Refreshing & exotic also. 30 Jul 2008 9:23pm @Evelyne Dubos: Thanks very much Evelyne! "Exotic" is just right, as this one comes from exotic places like Papua or Celebes. So cool that it also grows at home! linerberry from New ZealandWow, what a really beautiful shot! Perfectly captured. I'm fascinated by the rain drops...cool!! 30 Jul 2008 10:29pm @linerberry: Thanks a lot! It's a beautiful plant, you can't do anything wrong here ;-) Ronnie 2¢ from London, United KingdomI'll take your words for the plant but those are definitely a species of raindrop. Shrieks out 'Nature'! 30 Jul 2008 10:50pm @Ronnie 2¢: There are way too much of these raindrops appearing in this summer. Nothing can stop them. @Twelvebit: Thanks a lot! 2008 is a humid summer, so there are plenty of them :) @akarui: No lack of drops this summer! Thanks! JoeB from Brampton, CanadaA fair amount of comments about the rain drops, so I'll ask did you put vaseline on the leaves? he he. 31 Jul 2008 1:47am @JoeB: I've borrowed the plant from the Shangri-la. @Ina: I would like to make more photos of this one but the balcony is extremely crowded, so that my cycas is not easy to reach! :-D Japanalia from Yokohama, JapanShot in a most beautiful way! One can feel your joy at having this plant! 4 Aug 2008 8:06am @Japanalia: Yes, it has very fine bluish tones, I like that very much! @Marie: Merci! :-) |
