Destination Unknown

We don't know anything. We're stumbling upon the things we meet on our way, sometimes we learn a bit, often we ignore what we see. If we're lucky we may gain some wisdom, if not, well: life goes on one way or the other.

We had a fabulous day. Sun came out finally after a long period of rain and cloudy weather. My new camera arrived and I was eager to try it out (yes, I already took some shots in a small church!).

When we arrived back at home, the markets kept collapsing like a house of cards. Perhaps this has to do with the Lehman CDSs (see my post from yesterday). Perhaps Friday is the last day when private banks exist. Either way this is the end of capitalism as we know it. I don't know if this will going to be good, bad or worse. It will be different and we will pay for it.

I've read blogs from people who decided to open an account with a Swiss bank this Friday. Swiss franks as the last resort (forget gold - you'll never get the same amount of money back that you paid today). In the next few days you'll see the markets of Eastern Europe collapse; Hungary did make a start yesterday (see an impressive chart here). Romania, Poland, Russia will follow next week.

Enjoy your life and the things money can't buy, folks! Pursue your hobbies, plant your garden and if you can spare a few bucks, change them into Swiss franks. But not at UBS or CS: the smaller the bank the better.
