Winterland

Winter came and finally gave us snow. Plenty of snow! I can't remember the last time we had that much snow, must be several decades ago. And it's pure, natural snow coming from polar air, not the so very common industrial snow (that is produced by air pollution through power plants, for example). At noon, sun came out and the sky showed the slightest hue of blue that is imaginable. Wind blew through the conifers and the fresh snow crunched under my feet.

Through your words and this exquisite image ms....i am there!!! It may be still 20 degrees at 9pm here in NZ but I am wanting to crunch that fresh snow under my feet and knock the snow of the trees causing my own snow fall!!!

@Linerberry: It's really amazing, I built my last snowman almost 30 years ago; it lasted for three days. I remember one very snowy winter in the early 1990s. This one is the first 'real' winter for many years. (It made us put almost all our delicate plants into the domicile. Some of them started to flower! In our living-room!)

@Michael Skorulski: The only bad thing is that we had to carry almost all of our delicate plants into our flat. Even the Acacia tree, that started flowering a week ago!

You have described the winter scene perfectly, and this image is stunning, you have got the height of the conifer very well.

@Observing: When I left the house this morning it was still -9°C. A very fresh experience, especially on the bridge. But a wonderful, sunny day! :-)

Beautiful MS, I know just what you mean about the snow being crunchie. As the the snow was falling (3am) my son and myself just had to go outside, and even as it fell you could hear the crunch underfoot. A magical moment and thanks to your explanation I now know why :)

@MaryB: Hehe, it's a memory I almost forgot. Last time we had so much snow was ten years ago, it lasted only for a few days. Then I remember my last snowman that I've built at age 15, that's almost 30 years ago! This winter is quite exceptional!
