Winterland: St. Adolfus

Beautiful in April, St. Adolfus also cuts a fine figure in January 2009, the first 'high winter' for a long time. Although the winterly city looks charmed under its dress of snow, this winter is not a cakewalk for everybody. Temperatures in east Germany dropped far below -20°C (-4°F) last night, and this night is expected to become even more frosty. The western part of Germany experiences less low temperatures, but even -10°C we have here are a serious challenge for everybody without a warm place to hide.

@Kaylin Idora: Have a look at this forecast: cold air is approaching fast, you better close the windows. (The green area is between 48 and 42°F.) Hope it won't get as cold as it got here, though.

beautiful capture of winter in the city street... the church on the right looks particularly good - it has a nice warm tone which contrasts well with the rest of the scene...

@PD: Snow sometimes brings interesting new details and emphasizes the three-dimensionality. (And of course, it makes dark winter days a lot brighter!)

Gosh that is bitterly cold!!! We have (are having ) the hottest day so far at a record 38 degrees!!! Unbarable! Wonderul wonderland shot!

@Linerberry: Put a "-" before the 38 and you are close to temperatures of some villages in Saxonia two nights before. This is too much, I'm not built for these temperatures. :-)
