Dreischeibenhaus, Düsseldorf

The Dreischeibenhaus - "Three Slices Building", the third slice is hidden behind the center slice - seen from Hofgarten. I took this photo a week ago; nature is coming back so fast, I'm sure the scenery would look totally different if I would try this shot once more. At least the upper part would be completely hidden behind the now leaved tree.

What a stunning capture ms!!!! It really is a superb composition and wonderful light...I cannot fault it at all...Bravo!!!!
I understand the speed of the changing seasons....3 weeks ago I was at work and admiring the greenery and the fullness of the trees. Then I noticesda slight change in colour...reds and golds and yellows. Then this week....where have all the leaves gone???!!!!! Its scary how quickly it all happens!!!!

Wow!....great light and processing on those verticals. It can't have been easy keeping everything straight on a building that tall.

It looks like you chose just the right time of year for taking this photo.

@Ian Bramham: At the time of its completion (1960), it was indeed the tallest building of the city. Here is some more information. Fortunately my Tamron lens is rather distortion-free, so I didn't need much correction. The light is real - we walked through the park at sunset, when the building started to shine in this delicate gray/beige. So, yes, I guess it was the right time when we accidentally passed by. In winter it looks quite different.

@Ana Lúcia: The vegetation seemed to provide the frame here, we passed by, I hesitated for a moment, walked back, and I took a couple of shots.

A nice composition here bringing in natural elements to a view of a building that doesn't lose its character by introducing those elements. The building's height sure makes the building seem VERY thin as if it's only "hallway thin."

@Steven: You can see more info and pictures here. In 1960, after completion, it was the tallest building of Düsseldorf. It's still very elegant.

So it's a building from the sixties... all the more reason to feel terrified up there. But it is a beautiful design, and the subtle sunset glow looks lovely here. Excellent framing with the tree.

@John Maslowski: The parks here aren't very big and you have always a chance to capture some architecture behind the trees. Like everything, this has its pro and con.

They are breeding everywhere these buildings....so we're lucky when they are surrounded by trees and flowers and patches of green generally! Otherwise we'd all turn into neurotics because of so much glass and steel!

@Japanalia: This building is excused, as it's from the late 1950s, when glass and metal were far from common. Actually I find it much more elegant that today's office buildings.
