God's Help Is My Confidence

Remember Lemgo? That nice Hansa town in Westphalia with the many 16th century buildings. Here's a typical one, its decoration says it's from 1569, the owner was Bartholt Volckhusen. There are many buildings like this one in Lemgo, all heavily decorated, a Bible quote or prayer on the gable, and it's quite amazing that they survived the centuries. Btw, if you want to tell a medieval / very old building from a good historistic building: watch its upper parts. If they get broader and nutent, then it's most likely a *really* old building, at least in Germany.

I hope the sky is a bit more blue at our next visit.
