De Krijtberg, Amsterdam: AltarPosted by MadScientist (Düsseldorf, Germany) on 27 September 2009 in Art & Design. Another wonderful altar in De Krijtberg. This one can be found in the porch and might be used when the gates to the nave are closed. Another wonderful piece of art I'd like to have some information about.

@Bishop: Actually I found it quite serene; it doesn't have that bloody note that Baroque churches sometimes have. @dj.tigersprout: Thanks, Jaycee! @akarui: Compared to other altars, the light conditions were excellent. @Twelvebit: A quick shot, looks better than I did expect. @Japanalia: That's the difference between a museum sample and a church: this altar is 'in use', it has to be available for people and if course you find books, papers, kneelers and all that stuff that disturbs one's art appreciation. But actually this altar is a tool. |
