Sint Nicolaaskerk, Amsterdam: CeilingPosted by MadScientist (Düsseldorf, Germany) on 8 November 2009 in Architecture and Portfolio. St. Nicholas' cupola (58m / 63yd high) consists of an inner an outer part. The outer part encloses the cupola in the crossing, thus providing a filter for the light coming through. The paintings under the windows were done by Jan Dunselman; they are depicting the legend of St. Nicholas, and their style is heavily inspired by the Nazarene movement. (Ha, ha!)
