Adoration Window, Cologne CathedralPosted by MadScientist (Düsseldorf, Germany) on 7 January 2011 in Art & Design. This is the Adoration Window in Cologne Cathedral from 1846, depicting the Annunciation in its upper part. A lot of biblical personnel is appearing here, Adam and Eve, and the four major prophets (Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Danielan) among them. You can see that it’s one of the Bavarian windows due to the Bavarian coat of arms and the inscription, indicating King Ludwig I as donator of this window. My (old) coffee-table book of selected postings. More MadScientist: eclecticimaging.tumblr.com, the guy behind this blog

@Ronnie 2¢: I think so, yes! I've seen other photographs which have shown all panels. @MARIANA: Thank you, Mariana! @Phil David Morris: These 'Bavarian windows' really have some great colours! @António Pires: There are still some windows I wasn't able to capture yet! @Ted: Restoration, I think. Sometimes they get tired. @Steven: These windows were a present from the King of Bavaria in celebration of the cathedral's completion. They are really great. @Christine Walsh: Ask the cathedral workshop, they have hidden it! @Magda: Thanks so much, Magda! @Céline: Many thanks! @Japanalia: Most likely, yes. Sometime this year it will be complete again, hopefully. |
