St Jean, Liège: Sedes Sapientiae

A remarkable piece of art from the 13th century, created around 1230. Note the defeated dragon (representing the devil) under her feet.

This is a great statue, it looks like a prized specimen of Religious art and its easy
to see why, the magnificent gilding and polychrome work is highlighted beautifully
with the superb glass jewels. Your photograph is magnificent.
