St Michael, Munich: High AltarPosted by MadScientist (Düsseldorf, Germany) on 27 September 2011 in Art & Design. Il Gesù was the force behind this church: St Michael, built 1583-1597. Triumphal arches can be found everywhere; the iconography of this church emphasizes that only Catholicism is the real Christendom. The nave depicts the life of Jesus which is finally glorified in the sanctuary and the High Altar, the eye-catcher of the whole building. My (old) coffee-table book of selected postings.
