S Croce in Gerusalemme, Rome, Italy

Posted by
MadScientist (Düsseldorf, Germany) on 19 January 2008 in Art & Design.

This painting on the ceiling of the nave of S Croce in Gerusalemme represents the "Madonna that presents St. Elena and Costantine to the Holy Trinity", executed by Corrado Giaquinto, ca. 1744.
Exposure was difficult here because of a mixture of natural and artificial lighting.

Laurent from Lyon, France

in the continuation of the previous one. As well done as the last one, Bravo.

@Laurent: Merci! Some of the churches were inviting, others were 'uptight', this one was quite right :-)

Steven from Montreal, Canada

Love the warmth of this shot!

@Steven: Thank you! Though winter in this part of Italy is simply laughable, sitting in an unheated church can cool you off :-) But the colours bring back the warmth.

Michael from Wuppertal, Germany

Ina from Krugersdorp, South Africa

Nice artwork and a great shot!

@Ina: Bedankt! :-)

Japanalia from Yokohama, Japan spite of the difficulties you got a great image, considering that the painting is on the ceiling! I don't want to think of your position...must have been painful!

20 Jan 2008 2:42pm

@Japanalia: Not at all! The camera was lying on the floor and I crouched at its side with the remote control in my hand. It's easy!

Twelvebit from Victoria, United States

These seems like a candidate for multiple exposures and HDR processing. Still, it looks like you worked through the difficulties.

20 Jan 2008 4:01pm

@Twelvebit: Thank you very much, I only had to sharpen it a bit :-) Michael is already working on one of my pictures, I am curious about his results!

Porcsin from Debrecen, Hungary

Another goldish frame and painting!
And I like this shot again!

20 Jan 2008 10:30pm

@Porcsin: Thanks a lot, Porcsin! Except for Vatican city (much too crowded) Rome in December is perfect for 'hunting churches'! :-)

Brites from Lisboa, Portugal

Simply superb.

@Brites: To my astonishment, making these shots wasn't too difficult :-)
