Posted by MadScientist (Düsseldorf, Germany) on 14 March 2009 in Art & Design.

The Baroque High Altar of St. Lambertus, flanked by figures of St Lambertus, Apollinare, Thomas, and Pankratius. The smalll shrine below the celebration altar hosts the relics of St Apollinare, the patron of Düsseldorf.

@Jen: I like this altar a lot, not many originals like this one have survived the eras.

@Linerberry: The interior of this church is rather original; most other churches have lost their original altars in the war or were 'overhauled' in the 1960s.

@Eleftheria: Many thanks, Eleftheria! Almost the only location possible, there were houses everywhere.

No one seems to have noticed you, or perhaps, cared that you were taking photos. Nice shot.

@Twelvebit: That's no mass; a bunch of Dutch tourists was crowding the church. They didn't notice me. :-)
