Singin' in the snow

Posted by
MadScientist (Düsseldorf, Germany) on 11 February 2010 in Cityscape & Urban.

2003 was a very cold and long winter with snow until the end of March, so there is nothing special about this one, but I wouldn't really mind if this white plague would melt away by and by.

By the way, we have already visited some of these buildings: St Lambertus (the church with the big steeple) and the Josefskapelle (next to it).

Michael from Shell Village, United Kingdom

On a positive note, you could go to work on your skis.....! How exciting is that :0

@Michael: The Rhinelander is something we call a 'Flachlandtiroler' (lowlands Tyrolean) - only hills and usually little snow, so no skis!!!

António Pires from Portugal

It seems that the most depressing is the continuous uniform gray sky.

@António Pires: Exactly. Especially this year we're having a downright dark winter. Drives me crazy.

Laurent from Lyon, France

ok, it is cold outside.
ok, we want the snow to stop.
But when it is ended we regret not to have seize the opportunity of taking pictures as it makes beautiful shots like this one.

@Laurent: No, I'm never mourning after winter, after it's done! Honest! :-)

B.Held from Santa Fe, United States

this is completely superb!

@B.Held: Cheers, Brittany!

MARIANA from Waterloo, Canada

Super ! That is what I love . A wider exposure !!! Really love this image , 10 ***********

@MARIANA: Aw, come on! :-D

Steven from Chicagoland, United States

Ahhh, yes!! Here's the snow! I like this perspective where you capture the shoreline that "winds around" in an arc fashion. It adds highlight to the urban design of the neighborhood.

11 Feb 2010 4:37pm

@Steven: Two days of snowing and still no sign of spring... want some? :-)

Céline from New York City, United States

Great image !!! I love it !

11 Feb 2010 8:12pm

@Céline: Many thanks, Céline, much appreciated!

JoeB from Brampton, Canada

this is more like it, a winter wonderland, it could step in for St. Petersburg. :)

12 Feb 2010 1:47am

@JoeB: The one in Russia? Brrrr!

Ted from South Wales, United Kingdom

wonderfully vintage pp MS!

12 Feb 2010 5:51pm

@Ted: Not so vintage, as it seems! This winter is way too long, and it has stolen all colours, contrasts and shadows!

Japanalia from Yokohama, Japan

You must admit the fact that a cover of snow is working wonders in the streets of a town....well, before it starts melting anyway! So, your view here is most pleasant! The snow steals away the feeling of drabness!

13 Feb 2010 5:58am

@Japanalia: Nonetheless, we're having a very dark winter with too little sunlight. I wished we were at least two months further!

Twelvebit from Victoria, United States

Looks kinda cool to me.

@Twelvebit: I'm still freezing my a** off!
