My joy about yesterday's simple flowers is best explained in retrospect. A few years ago the city of Koblenz was holding the Bundesgartenschau, a big national garden fair happening every few years, and parts of the citizenship are busy keeping its spirit. The most convincing result of these efforts can be seen around Koblenz castle with its many beds of flowers. This is a shot from late August last year. They were still blooming a month later, but in late October they all were gone. Five almost colourless months are more than enough, so I really appreciate these crocuses that made their way through this endless winter. Temps are decreasing, but the signs of spring can't be ignored any longer. What a relief!

What fascinating flowers beds! They are laughing, they are hot...gossiping or not....this a gorgeous shot!!!
Go back to such an event and take more shots this summer!
Here, as the Equinox is an national holiday, it is warm, extremely windy and a storm is brewing! I keep thinking of the cherry blossoms which are just opening their flowers and hope some will be left of the branches to be admired by us, mortals! Weather is really unpredictable!

@Japanalia: Weather is, and climate, too. Here we are experiencing the darkest winter in 43 years; in Austria some regions have the coolest and darkest winters for ca. 130(!) years. Europe is entering a new ice age.
(I hope there will be a next summer. But if it will come, I'll return to there, I promise!)

So sorry, don't feel bad about your weather, think about all the snow here and no
melting yet !~

@Phil Morris: I know, Germany's North is still covered with masses of snow, too. It's the ice age.

@franz: Das wird es! In einem Forum über exotische Pflanzen wurden gestern die Selbstmordraten europäischer Länder diskutiert; wird dringend Zeit für Licht und Wärme!!

Steven from Chicagoland, United States

Beautiful colors captured in these beds with a great DoF! I am glad that your temps are getting better. We're expecting 5" of snow Sunday. :-(

@Steven: Spring is over here, we're skipping everything and start again with wintry temperatures. :-(
